My hair is about 4 inches above my waist. Is it long or too long? My goal was to grow it long enough to be able to sit on it. But now I'm starting to think that letting it get that long might be too much. (I don't have trouble taking care of it or anything) And do guys like long hair or short hair better? (In general)
What do you consider long hair, and what do you consider too long hair?
Already having hair long enough to sit on, I consider long hair as starting below the bra-strap. I'm trying for knee-length at the moment, and I've only got a foot to go. Whether I'll maintain it there or keep going, I don't know.
Obviously, I don't think there is such a thing as hair that's "too long"... unless you're walking down the sidewalk and someone else steps on it. And even then, the person who just got their hair stepped on can avoid such situations by keeping it twisted up or tightly braided while in public.
OrigamiGirl and LakynInfinity: I've seen both long AND short hair that's unhealthy. I've seen shoulder-length hair that looks so silky and shiny it makes me instantly jealous, but I've also seen brittle, fried-to-death hair of the same length. I've seen well-cared for hair longer than mine, and I've seen ragged ends that made me want to beg the person to get several inches lopped off. It's not the length of the hair that makes it unhealthy and unattractive, it's the lack of effort. My own hair is regularly trimmed and well-taken care of, and I've only ever gotten compliments on it from both men and women.
And yes, we CAN cut it now, but the beauty of having a choice is that we don't HAVE to. I've been there, done that, and spent 11 years hating my hair and waiting for it to get back to where it was. I also never lack for a hairstyle, should I feel like changing it up. Sure, there are certain up-dos that work better on shorter hair, but that just means I have to be more creative.
Mizdramaqween: At an amusement park, a braid is my best friend. Braided, my hair barely brushes the top of my hips.
What do you consider long hair, and what do you consider too long hair?
Your hair isn't obscenely long or anything of the sort, but when you can sit on it, that is considered too long. With the guy factor, it all depends on the guy. No one can give you an answer with what every guy is thinking. I get better responses however from guys when my hair is short, but my friends compliment my long hair due to the look of it. So it's all in the guys you meet.
What do you consider long hair, and what do you consider too long hair?
It is too long. Just keep in mind: The longer your hair is, the more unhealthy it will be. Also, longer hair is just so much less managable! Keep it simple and keep it short.

I have probally the same length hair as you I am trying to grow it long and chop it all of for Locks of Love. Its when you donate hair to make a wig for cancer.
What do you consider long hair, and what do you consider too long hair?
a little above the waist is typically too long, about 6-8 inches above the waist is about as long as you can go without it looking too long. And all the guys I've dated liked long hair for some reason.
What do you consider long hair, and what do you consider too long hair?
well long hair is tricky if it is taken care of its beautiful no matter how long but if not taken care of then its just died hair that looks raged

i don't think your hair is too long. there are so many celebrities with long gorgeous hair. demi moore, ashley tisdale, jennifer love hewitt, jennifer aniston, lindsay lohan, jessica simpson, and kate hudon. there are many more. long hair is gorgeous, and everybody loves long hair.
What do you consider long hair, and what do you consider too long hair?
I think past the middle of your back is WAY too long. It starts to look really bad, straggly, unkempt, and makes YOU look shorter. I consider long as past your chest, and too long, as I said before, past the middle of your back. You don't need long hair. We can cut it now, and there's not much you can do with it once it's that long. And it just doesn't look...good.
What do you consider long hair, and what do you consider too long hair?
Thats a hard question all i know is that my mom has short hair and gets guys and my sister has long hair and gets guys. so its in the middle. If you go 2 an amusement park and your hair is long enough 4 u 2 sit on it. i feel srry 4 u when u go on a ride. so ill keep it where u have ur hair know. but if u cut 2 short u look balled. if u cut it make sure its long enought 4 it 2 curl up!
What do you consider long hair, and what do you consider too long hair?
I'd say right now, it's long, but definately not too long. Too long is whenever you can't take care of it properly anymore, or it gets too hard to manage/annoying. For instance, my hair is about 3 inches past my waist right now, and for me, it's not long enough! A researcher named Kelley Kline, who studied sex appeal at Florida State University, discovered something interesting...
"[Men] overwhelmingly find the long hair length significantly more attractive than the short and the medium hair length," Kline said. "
