Long hair or to cut for guys?

I've been wondering because since young, I was never given the oppurtunity to keep my hair long because my family thought the shorter it is the tidier it would be. But now, I've been given the freedom and such. My dad says that if I kept my hair long it'll make my hair drop. Is this true? It interferes with the male sex hormones or something like that

The longer your hair, the heavier your hair, so it will actually appear to be flatter or thinner just because it's hanging lower. Hormones are hormones, so if it's hormone-related balding, it won't really make a bit of difference. It will just be more noticeable if your hair is longer due to the way it hangs.

Now, on to the relevant topic - long hair vs. short hair.

Upside to short hair is that it's easy to manage, you can wake up and just go a lot of the time, and there's nothing a good old fashioned bit of water and some vigorous rubbing can't fix. Downside is there aren't very many styles you can go with.

Upside to long hair is that you can style it many different ways. Downside is that it's a nuisance, requires styling in the morning, CONSTANTLY flies around and wraps all over your face on windy days, is always seeming to get in your eyes and mouth, gets dirty easier, harder to keep clean, hangs more, clogs the shower drains (important to mention if you're worried about thinning/balding).

Let's see...to sum up...there are a TON of benefits to short hair over long hair. Long hair really just kinda sucks. Back in the 80s, when glam-rock was king, and the big-hair bands owned the music scene, long hair was cool. Not so much anymore.

How short are you talking about? And how long are you thinking about growing it?

I suggest you grow it out, see how youn like it. If you don't care for it, cut it off again. I let my grow out a few years ago. They it just got to be a hasstle.
