My long hair makes me too hot :(?

I have ALOT of hair, but it's very fine. I finally have grown out my hair and it's about armpit length :o) I like the look and it's NICE %26amp; EASY to care for!! However, I'm just no good in the heat, and this hair is making me soooo hot! I put in in a ponytail from time to time, but I'm not wild about the look and I just sweat under the elasticked area!

I don't want layers (which I had before) because it just looked messy (I wash my hair the night before work, so it's not like I can blowdry a style into it) and I don't want to spend time curling my entire head.

Years ago there were two things: a) I'd heard of "underlayering" but don't know if that's commonly done any more, and b) there was that hairstyle where if the person put the long hair in a ponytail, you could see that the underside was basically shaved! I am SO tempted!!! LOL

Help! Any thoughts??? If I can do it myself, so much the better -- I trim my own hair now.

Thanks!

ok, thin your hair out. they use this razor type thing, and scrape it over your hair, it thins it out. so it becomes thinner. it keeps the length and is less frizzy. :]

Start putting your hair in two braids. It sounds kiddish, but it makes your hair a little shorter, and it looks cute.

You can also wear your hair up in a bun. It can be messy for a casual look, or slick for a formal one.

You can put your hair into two pigtails, and then clip them up in loops. I LOVE doing that. It seems silly, but it ends up looking nice, and you get a lot of compliments. Plus it keeps it up and out of the way.

Hope these help out a little bit.

i wouldnt do that ....it sounds like it took you a long time to get the long hair you like....go to your stylist and ask for help with some summertime styles for putting your hair up (with out Cutting or shaving it)...remember the summer season is short and it will take much longer than a summer to grow out...Good luck

I think long hair is just hot in the summer. I know I get hot with mine too. Just please don't cut the bottom off like they did in the 90's. It is so hard to grow back and honestly it is NOT pretty. Just find some fun ways to put your hair up. Go to your local Target or Walmart and buy some clips, headbands, barrettes etc and play around with it before you just cut it off. You will regret it in the long run. I just went to K-Mart and they had so many cute ways to tie up your hair and get a couple and play with it. You can look in some summer hair style books too, that always helps. Good luck!

My long hair makes me too hot :(?

OK, I have the same problem in the heat, I live in Phoenix and it is HOT! I have atleast found a cute way to wear my hair up in a sort of "ponytail". I gather all of my hair together at the nape of my neck, then I pull it all up and clip a large clip with a clasp to all of the hair near the top of my head, the hair underneath stays off my neck without being pulled up tightly, and the clip isn't seen as it is underneath, so the top of the hair just kind of 'cascades' out. Atleast is not as drastic as shaving part of your head, and it's a cute alternative to the ordinary 'ponytail days'.
