Long hair on little boys?

Do you think it is cute for a boy under 3 (at least) to have long hair, especially when he has tight curls? Pulled back into a tight, low ponytail or even loose and down, but like right above the shoulders, no longer than that?

I mean, I see older guys (high school age) with longer hairs now. I want to do this with my son. Right now he is 9 months workin about 5 inches of really tight, black curls on his head. I think it will be sooo cute. He is Puerto Rican and Black. ???

I love long hair on little boys. They have all of their adult lives to look like bankers - why not go a little wild as a child?

My son is now three - we're of solidly European stock (Polish, Italian, Welsh and Swedish) but oh boy golly does my kid have curls! By the summer of his second year all he needed was a surf board to look right at home in Santa Cruz.

Did he sometimes get mistaken for a girl? Once in a while. Was he traumatized? Um, no. He's too little to be fussed by that sort of thing.

We use spray-in detangler (Suave makes a kid version) to make combing his hair easier. I'm not sure about a ponytail - to me that seems a little girlie, but then that might be more of a cultural bias.

Around his third birthday, we finally trimmed his curls - they were getting in his eyes - and I must say, his hair is much softer *and* it's much easier to comb. But he still has locks to die for!

I'm going to hate the day he finally hacks them off. :)

Awww, he sounds a real cutie. If you think it looks good then do it, you can always trim it if you think it starts to look daft. I think longish hair can look quite funky on little ones as long as it's kept tidy

I think if its something that you want to do then go for it . Don't listen to other ppl about oh they will mistake him for a girl blah blah blah LOL. My daughters hair is short and when I don't fix it up she looks like a boy and even if I have her in all pink they still think she is a boy LOL But I never listen to them I simply correct them and go on .

it depends. as long as he doesnt look girly lol my brother who is 14 months older than i am had thick blond girl hair when he was little and everyone always thought he was a girl even dressed in red and blue-it's up to you and your son:) i think it ok especially if you pull it back tight but it may be aggrivating to him

NO I think it looks terrible when little boys have long hair. Keep it short, maybe a little longer if you love the curls!

His hair sounds gorgeous, but to be honest, like you said, you see older men with long hair in pony tails, I cant even picture a baby with a pony tail...I think it would be darling if you just left it loose....

My son is 3, almost 4. He has long hair just at his shoulders, maybe a little longer, with a slight curl. It is so adorable and I could not imagine him with any other hairstyle. He is all boy and looks it...though we will get some comments about what a beautiful "girl" we have, LoL. I think little boys with long hair are adorable, especially those with dark curly hair. Very cute!

I think it should be trimmed. I have a 2 year old nephew that looks like a girl. His father refuses to let his hair be cut. The grandmother trimmed it once (Mom wants it cut too) and he threw a fit. I understand letting it be a little long, but to the shoulders is ridiculous!

Kids cannot have their air pulled into a ponytail. But kids with long hair, especially with what they call mushroom haircuts and curly hair, are adorable!

i would say it depends on the crowd you run with .........

sounds like drug use to me but when I hung out with that cowd it was over twenty years ago .......

doesnt set his future up for a positive experience though and will likely have an effect on his views and peers as a teen and the rest of his life .....

my son has tight curls which we could pull into a pony tail. so cute. however we finally made the decision to cut it when he was 25 months cause everyone commented on my cute little girl. the curls stay and he is even cuter. i know it is hard i cryed at the hairdressers but kepth the curls.
