Boy with Long Hair?

I have long, dark blonde hair, all one length, to the top of my shoulders. I want to grow my hair past my shoulders to upper back length.

I talked to my mom about this, and she agrees this would look good on me. She also suggested layers and blonde highlights. She says this would give my hair more body.

I am willing to try a new style! I'm also not one to give in to society's stereotypes. But before I go to the salon, I was wondering exactly what this would involve, and how long it would take my hair to reach midback or so.

do not get highlights. The chemical would ruin your hair.

dont do the highlights that a no for guys you do need the layers all one length try trimming your have once a month on a full moon to make it grow

It will cost kind of alot of money to get layers and highlights. Your hair grows about a 1-2 centemeters a month. So, it might take 3-6 months, but it might take longer, then again, it might only take 1-2 months. ( i love guys w/ long hair)!!!!

Okay, I probably wouldn't grow it out to upper-back length. Although it does look good on some guys to have very long hair, you have to be very masculine in the face and body-build, otherwise it becomes too feminine.

Maybe grow it so it's just at your back, but don't get highlights. They look really bad when regrowth hits, and I think they just look really fake. Plus, your natural hair has natural highlights, and if you want more, just go out in the sun more and more natural one's will grow in.

I also think some layers would do you good. It'll give your hair more 'attitude', and it'll look good. One length hair doesn't have the same appeal as layered or choppy hair does. And if your hair is kinda' pulled back from your face, without any on your forehead, try to part it a bit, because guys' with a fringe, even if just a little, look a whole lot better and new-age.

Otherwise, if you want to grow it out, it'll take somewhere between 2 - 6 months, depending on hair health, nutrition etc. You could try some different types of products that claim to make hair grow faster.

I would say go for the longer hair, layer it, and stay away from the highlights. Highlights on a male dont go too swell. Aside from many dudes laughing as you pass, a lot of women will think you may be gay, thus stomping your chances at any play.

I love it when guys have long hair but make sure you don't over do it. I say put layers in it and maybe grow it a little longer but DO NOT high light it!!
